ISO 22477-1 Geotechnical Research and Testing - Testing of Geotechnical Structures - Testing of Piles: Static Compressive Load Test

This standard covers the requirements for performing static pile load tests in which a single pile is subjected to axial static load under pressure in order to define the load-displacement behavior.

This standard applies to inclined piles as well as vertical piles. All types of piles are within the scope of this document. The tests considered in this standard are limited to sustained load tests. Pile loading tests with constant penetration rate and cyclic load tests are not within the scope of this standard.

This standard provides specifications for performing static axial pile load tests:

• Checking whether the piles will behave as designed;
• Measuring the resistance of a pile.

In the selection of equipment, the purpose of the test, ground conditions, performance of the test and the expected displacement of the piles under the maximum test load will be taken into account.

If more than one hydraulic jack is used to apply the test load, they should be arranged symmetrically, be of the same make and model, and be fed by a common supply from one hydraulic unit. Each hydraulic jack shall be equipped with a shut-off valve and an additional pressure gauge.
