DIN 53770-2 Pigments and Fillers Standard Test for Determination of Soluble in Hydrochloric Acid

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of DIN 53770-2 testing. This standard specifies a method (hydride AAS method) for the determination of the antimony content in pigments and fillers (hereinafter referred to as pigments for simplicity) in hydrochloric acid.

DIN 53770-2 Pigments and Fillers Standard Test for Determination of Soluble in Hydrochloric Acid

The method is used to determine the antimony content dissolved in hydrochloric acid from 0.01 mg/kg to 30.0 mg/kg. The scope of the method can be extended to higher mass concentrations by diluting the extract.

Atomic absorption spectrometry is a method for determining the content of elements. It is based on the measurement of optical radiation absorption by gaseous free atoms.

Absorption occurs by excitation of valence electrons from ground state to excited electronic states with appropriate monochromatic radiation.

The content of antimony soluble in hydrochloric acid is determined by measuring the radiation absorbed by the antimony at a wavelength of 217.6 nm. For this purpose, the analyte contained in the extract is reduced to volatile hydride with sodium borohydride. The gaseous hydride is then transferred to an electrically heated quartz glass cuvette and thermally atomized.
