EN 10002-2 Metallic Materials - Tensile Testing - Part 2: Standard Test for Verification of the Force Measurement System of Tensile Testing Machines

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 10002-2 testing. This European standard covers the verification of the force measuring system of tensile testers. Prior to this verification, a general inspection of the testing machine should be made. Dynamic verification of forces exerted by tensile testers is outside of this standard. This standard is not concerned with the validation of extensometers.

EN 10002-2 Metallic Materials - Tensile Testing - Part 2: Standard Test for Verification of the Force Measurement System of Tensile Testing Machines

Verification of the testing machine should only be done if the machine is in good working order. For this purpose, a general inspection of the machine should be carried out before verification of the machine's force measurement system.

This verification should be done for each of the force ranges used and with the most commonly used force gauge. Accessory devices (auxiliary pointer, recording device) that may affect the force measurement system, where used, should be verified accordingly.

If there are several force measuring systems in the testing machine, each system should be considered as a separate testing machine. The same procedure will be followed for double piston hydraulic machines.

The width of the gradation marks on the scale should be uniform, and the width of the marker (or track width if using a recorder) should be approximately equal to the width of a grading mark.

The resolution is considered an increment of the number in the numeric display, provided that the display does not increase by more than one when the instrument is empty.

It will be verified that the crosshead drive mechanism will allow a smooth and smooth variation of force and ensure that various discrete forces can be obtained with sufficient accuracy. The driving mechanism should also ensure that the specified deformation rates are observed to determine the various mechanical properties of the test piece.
