The ISO 15630-1 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes chemical and mechanical testing methods that can be applied to reinforcing rods, rods and wires for concrete, and measurement methods of geometric characteristics. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute with the following title: TS EN ISO 15630-1 Steel - For reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete - Test methods - Part 1: Reinforcement rods, rope and wire.
In general, the standard covers the following test methods under the general title of steel for reinforcing and pre-stretching concrete:
The purpose of the ISO 15630 standard is to reinforce steels and explain all relevant test methods for pre-stressing in a single standard. For this purpose, current international standards for product tests have been revised, updated and some new test methods have been added. In general, reference has been made to international standards for metal applicability testing.
The steel reinforcing bar or rebar is embedded in the concrete to increase the overall strength of the concrete surrounding it. Standards have been developed to ensure that rebar produced anywhere in the world displays the same physical, chemical and mechanical properties, regardless of source. Appropriate mechanical tests are required to determine whether the reinforcing bar complies with the published standards and to identify the quality of the product.
Mechanical testing requirements for rebar may differ. However, tensile, bending, compression and fatigue tests are generally applied. Other tests, such as a slip test, may be required depending on the situation.
Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of metallic testing services ISO 15630-1 standard tests are also available.
