This standard specifies the technical delivery conditions for two test categories of circular cross-section electrically welded pipes made of non-alloyed quality steel or alloyed special steel, with specified high-temperature properties.
The steelmaking process is at the discretion of the steel or pipe manufacturer, except that steel produced by the open pit (Siemens-Martin) process is not used in combination with a secondary steelmaking or ladle refining process.
These pipe grades are intended to support the essential requirements of EU Directive 13/2014/EU with regard to pressure equipment with specified high temperature characteristics, covered by all relevant Categories specified in Article 68 of this Directive.
The inner and outer surface coating of the pipes will be typical of the manufacturing process and, where applicable, the heat treatment used. Normally the finish and surface condition should be such that any surface defects requiring correction can be identified.
Correction of surface defects only by grinding or machining will be permitted provided that the wall thickness in the area to be corrected is not less than the specified minimum wall thickness thereafter. All worn areas should blend smoothly into the contour of the tube.
