This European standard gives the shapes of products currently available for wrought aluminum and aluminum alloys for each major field of application. Applies to aluminum and aluminum alloys with chemical compositions specified in EN 573-3.
Some of the products listed in the current standard may be subject to patent or patent application, and their listing herein in no way constitutes a license under such patent right. CEN/TC 132 confirms that if a patent holder refuses to license standardized standard products under reasonable and non-discriminatory conditions, it is policy to exclude that product from the relevant standard.
For the purposes of this part of this European standard, aluminum and aluminum alloys are divided into two classes, A and B, as follows.
Class A: Aluminum and aluminum alloys, the mechanical properties of which are specified in the relevant European standard for the relevant application area;
Class B: Aluminum and aluminum alloys produced in limited quantities for the relevant field of application, or Aluminum and aluminum alloys used for special applications not covered by a European Standard.
Existing alloys must be removed from all relevant product standards before being removed from EN 573-3 and EN 573-4. The same will apply to conversion of an A grade to a B grade in EN 573-4.
