This Standard of EN 10263 applies to round bars, round bars and wire of up to and including 100 mm in diameter, of unalloyed and alloyed steel, intended for cold forging and cold extrusion and subsequent surface hardening.

For products ordered with standard requirements for hardenability, that is, when the steel names or numbers specified in the tables are supplemented with the "+H" symbols, the hardness values ​​obtained in the final quenching test (Jominy test) will conform to the values ​​given in the tables.

In the case of products ordered with limited requirements for scatter bands, the hardness values ​​obtained by the Jominy test, ie when the steel name or number specified in the tables is supplemented with the symbol "+HH" or "+HL".

If agreed between the supplier and the buyer at the time of request and order, the supplied wire rod will be produced under a mutually acceptable quality system. Any surface treatment that may facilitate subsequent cold forging and cold extrusion or partially delay any rust formation will be subject to agreement at the time of order.
