EN 13523-27 Coil Coated Metals, Damp Poultry Resistance Cataplasma Test

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 13523-27 testing. This standard specifies a procedure for evaluating the resistance of an organic coating on a metallic substrate (coil coating) in extremely humid (acid, alkali, or neutral) conditions.

A test panel is exposed to a sealed moist environment for a specified time and at a specified temperature. The sample panel is evaluated for a uniform or local change such as swelling or corrosion (eg, red rust, white rust).

Four suitable methods are given in this European Standard:

  • magnetic induction;
  • Eddy current;
  • Micrometer;
  • Optical.

The methods can only be applied to products with smooth and flat substrates, but the coating itself can be textured. Thus, for methods a and b, the average of a series of readings will represent an average of the thickness of the organic coating, while method c will give the maximum thickness and method d will give the minimum, maximum, and average thickness.
