The cross-sections and size ranges are:

  • Round, square and hexagonal bar with diameters or widths across blades from 2 mm to 160 mm (inclusive);
  • Bar with thicknesses from 2 mm to 40 mm (inclusive) and widths from 3 mm to 200 mm (inclusive);
  • round with diameters or widths from 2 mm to 25 mm (inclusive) flats, as well as thicknesses from 0,5 mm to 12 mm (inclusive) and widths from 1 mm to 200 mm (inclusive), square, hexagonal and rectangular wire.

Sampling procedures and test methods are also specified to verify compliance with the requirements of this standard. The product description provides a standardized design model through which a quick and clear description of a product can be conveyed in communication. It provides mutual understanding at the international level on products that meet the requirements of the relevant European Standard.

Rod, rod and wire can be supplied with sharp corners, rounded corners or semicircular edges. Corner type must be specified when ordering.

Products shall be clean and free from damaging defects; this will be specified by agreement between buyer and supplier at the time of request and order. Normally cold drawn products have a superficial film of oil residue and is allowed unless otherwise stated. Discoloration is allowed as long as it does not harm use.

If test pieces from both test specimens pass the appropriate tests, the represented inspection lot shall be deemed to comply with the specific requirements of this standard. If a test piece fails a test, the represented inspection lot should be considered non-compliant with this standard.
