EN 13674-1 Railway Applications - Railway Line - Rail - Part 1: Vignole Railway Rails of 46 kg / m and Above

The standard EN 13674-1, a European standard, describes the characteristics of Vignole railroad tracks with a linear mass of 46 kg / m and greater for conventional and high-speed rail track use. This standard has been published by the Turkish Standards Institute in our country with the following title: TS EN 13674-1 Railway applications - Railway line - Rail - Part 1: Vignole railway rails of 46 kg / m and above.

EN 13674-1 Railway Applications - Railway Line - Rail - Part 1: Vignole Railway Rails of 46 kg / m and Above

This standard covers the following types of steels: non-heat-treated unalloyed steels, non-heat-treated alloy steels, heat-treated unalloyed steels and heat-treated alloy steels. There are more than 20 rail profiles in this standard. In addition, two classes of rail straightness are specified, which differ in terms of flatness, surface smoothness and crown profile requirements.

In the production of rails, rails are classified according to their profiles, hardness, tensile strength and weight per meter. Recently, post-production heat treatment has been added to these features.

Most of the accidents that occur on railways are due to derailment reasons. This is because the defective areas on the rail surface are subject to fractures and ruptures due to the effect of tensile residual stresses. For this reason, it is necessary to detect regions with high residual voltage and to determine the rail faults that cause accidents in advance.

EN 13674-1 standard is of great importance for measuring and determining residual stresses caused by production on rails. However, this test method is a destructive method and testing and measurement processes take a long time. In addition, lines in use are not tested. For this reason, m, which is a non-destructive measurement method for fast and reliable measurement of faults in use.The anesthetic Barkhausen method is used.

Among the services provided by our organization within the scope of metallic testing services, there are tests of the EN 13674-1 standard.
