For the purposes of this European standard, alloys are divided into two groups corresponding to varying degrees of difficulty during the manufacture of products.
Where outer diameter OD, inside diameter ID, and wall thickness t (or their equivalent dimensions other than round pipe) are specified, standard tolerances will apply to any two of these dimensions, but not to all three. As a result, the buyer will specify only two nominal sizes in any order.
Average diameter is defined as the average of two diameter measurements taken at right angles to each other at any position along the length. The maximum allowable deviation of the diameter from the specified diameter at any point is the maximum difference measured at any point along the length of the pipe, i.e. it includes any ovality in the cross section.
