Although the outer diameter range to which this International standard applies may be specified more precisely in the relevant product standard, it is designed for pipes with an outer diameter of not greater than 65 mm.

Bending tests of test pieces taken from tubes in transverse strips shall be carried out in accordance with ISO 7438 to increase the original curvature of the test piece.

Bending a straight pipe in full cross section around a grooved die of a given radius until the angle a reaches the value specified in the relevant product standard.

The test piece must be a piece of straight pipe of any length that will allow the test to be performed on the pipe bending machine.
