United States experience with aluminum-containing screw connections shows that these should be verified with a cyclic current test. This applies to aluminum coupling devices that can be used with copper or aluminum conductors, or aluminum-free coupling devices that can be used with aluminum conductors.
These requirements, which are part of ANSI UL 486E, were developed taking into account the widespread use of aluminum conductors and aluminum-containing connecting devices in the United States.
