ISO 10247 Conveyor Belts, Caps Properties, Classification Test Method

Creates the classification of covers for general purpose conveyor belts with textile or metal carcass. It specifies essential combinations of key features of belt covers and specifies corresponding determination methods.

Three categories of belt covers designed for different service conditions are defined.

For the purposes of this International standard, the following definitions apply:

Category H (severe cutting and gouging service): Covers for conveyor belts assigned to transport sharp and abrasive materials that cause severe wear on the belt, such as metallic ores (such as mining), limestone (such as quarry), granite (as a quarry), quartz, blast furnace clinker and slag, crushed metallic ores, sandstone (as quarried), stone chips, slate, coke (cold), broken glass and gravel.

Category D (severe wear service): Covers with the necessary properties for conveyor belts, assigned to the transport of very abrasive materials, defined by experience in each case.

L category (medium duty): Covers with the necessary properties for conveyor belts dedicated to the transport of: moderately abrasive materials such as rubble, sand (sharp), superphosphate (lump and dust), bone, coal (surface), ash, quicklime lime and cement (from the furnace); slightly abrasive materials, non-abrasive and dry materials such as sand (smooth), cement (ground), clay, slaked lime, charcoal, grain, vegetables, fruit, flour.
