Weigh the test portion specified in the appropriate International standard, transfer to a 100 ml beaker and dissolve in 25 ml of water. Dissolve 0,70 g of ferrous ammonium sulfate hexahydrate [Fe(NH,)2(SO04)2m6H,0] in 500 ml of water in a 1-liter single-measured flask. Add 20 ml of dilute sulfuric acid (1 + 15) and then make up to the mark with water. Close the bottle and mix well. A 10 ml portion of this solution is pipetted into a single 100 ml measuring flask, made up to the mark with water and mixed well. Label this solution as “iron standard”.
