EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 8495 test standard. This International standard specifies a method for ring expansion testing on pipes used to reveal defects on both the surfaces and the pipe wall by expanding the test piece using a tapered mandrel until fracture occurs.
It can also be used to evaluate the ability of tubes to undergo plastic deformation. The ring expansion test is applicable to pipes with an outer diameter of 18 mm to 150 mm (inclusive) and a wall thickness of 2 mm to 16 mm (inclusive).
The length of the test piece should be between 10 mm and 16 mm. The test pieces shall be taken from the ends of the deburred pipes as they were manufactured before they are cut to length. The rings should be cut so that the planes of their end faces are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the pipe axis.
