This standard specifies the general technical delivery conditions for flat steel and long products (plates/profiles/wide flats and bars), which are mainly used for general purpose structural steels. The steels specified in this standard are intended for use in welded or bolted structures.
If a specific steelmaking process has not been agreed upon at the time of inquiry and order, the steelmaking process for steels according to this part of ISO 630 will be at the discretion of the manufacturer. If a specific steelmaking process is specified, this will be reported in the inspection document.
The heat analysis reported by the steelmaker will comply with the requirements of the individual parts of ISO 630 and be included in the relevant inspection document.
Product analysis will be done as agreed and specified at the time of request and order. Permissible product analysis tolerances for the limit values given for casting analysis are specified in separate sections of ISO 630.
Verification of heat analysis will be done per casting (heat). For product analysis, one test piece will be taken per casting to identify these elements, indicated by numerical values for the particular steel grade, in the relevant sections of ISO 630, unless otherwise stated and agreed.
