This standard specifies tolerances on the dimensions and shape of forged aluminum and aluminum alloy extruded rectangular bars, thicknesses from 2 mm to 240 mm and widths from 10 mm to 600 mm.
For the purposes of this part of ISO 6362, wrought aluminum and aluminum alloys are divided into two groups that correspond to varying difficulties in the manufacture of products. The deflection should be measured with the bar supported on a horizontal base plate so that deflection is minimized by the weight of the bar.
Results of size (length, width, thickness, rounding, etc.) and shape (squaring, cambering, straightness, flatness, bending, circularity, etc.) determinations are not rounded. They shall comply with the specification in the relevant International standard, again taking into account the allowable tolerances given in the relevant International standard.
When recording test results, the number representing the result of a test to determine a particular property or chemical composition should be expressed in terms of the same number of decimal places as the corresponding number in the relevant International Standard.
