Developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the ISO 642 standard describes the Jominy test method applied to determine the hardenability of steels. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute with the following title: TS 1381 EN ISO 642 Steel - Hardness test by giving water to the tip (Jominy test). In this test method, a test piece with a diameter of 25 millimeters and a length of 100 millimeters is used and the hardenability of the steel is determined by the final quenching.

Jominy final quenching test is used to measure the hardenability of the steel, which is a measure of the hardening ability of the steel under certain conditions. In order to minimize thermal stresses and distortions in production components of different sizes, information is needed on the hardenability of steels in order to choose the appropriate combination of alloy steel and heat treatment.
