ISO 6988 Metallic and Other Non-Organic Coatings - Sulfur Dioxide Testing by General Moisture Condensation

All materials used in the construction of the test chamber must be resistant to the action of moist sulfur dioxide and must not themselves emit any gases or vapors likely to affect the corrosion of the test specimens.

If test specimens are cut from a larger coated object, the cut should be made so as not to damage the coating, especially in the area adjacent to the cut. Unless otherwise specified, cut edges should be adequately protected by covering them with a suitable medium that is stable under the test conditions, such as wax or adhesive tape.

The test report should show the test results according to the specified criteria for evaluating the results. The result obtained for each test sample and, where appropriate, the average result for a set of duplicate test samples should be reported. The test report may be accompanied, if necessary, by photographic records of the test specimens.
