This part of ISO 7148 specifies tribological testing of lubricated and non-lubricated polymer-based plain bearing materials under specific operating conditions, namely load, sliding speed and temperature.
From the test results, data are obtained showing the relative tribological behavior of the metal-polymer and polymer-polymer friction parts.
The purpose of this part of ISO 7148 is to obtain repeatable measurement values for friction and wear under specified and fully defined test conditions with and without lubrication (dry surfaces) and with lubrication (limit lubrication) for polymer material combinations used in plain bearings.
The test results give useful information for practical application only if all the effect parameters are the same. The more test conditions deviate from actual practice, the greater the uncertainty of the applicability of the results.
