Spectral Analysis

The chemical composition of metallic materials is determined with the help of spectral analysis. In the process, materials can be identified or verified. Positive material identification tests, also called EDX/ESD tests, are vital to the traceability of materials. Material messes can cause significant damage and should not be unconditionally ignored, especially in sensitive, safety-related areas.

Spectral Analysis

Energy Dissipative X-Ray Analysis (EDX), called EDS or EDAX, is an x-ray technique used to determine the basic composition of materials. Applications include materials and product research, troubleshooting, deformation and more.

EDX systems are add-ons to Electron Microscope instruments (Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) or Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM)) where the imaging capability of the microscope defines the sample of interest. The data produced by EDX analysis consists of spectra showing the peaks corresponding to the elements that make up the actual composition of the analyzed sample. Elemental mapping and image analysis of a sample are also possible.

Benefits of spectral analysis

  • Improved quality control and process optimization
  • Quick identification of contaminant and source
  • Environmental factors, emissions, etc. full control
  • More on-site confidence, higher production efficiency
  • Identifying the source of the problem in the process chain
  • What elements do we analyze

EUROLAB laboratory analyzes the entire chemical components and element list in metals and materials.
