The EN 13594 standard, a European standard, describes the impact abrasion resistance properties and test methods of motorcycle gloves. In our country, it has been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 13594 Protective gloves for professional motorcycle riders - Rules and test methods.

This standard is a special standard designed to evaluate the level of protection provided by a protective glove in the event of an accident while riding a motorcycle. Where possible, this standard is in the EN 388 standard makes use of the tests described. However, it also includes several specific tests to measure properties such as abrasion resistance after an impact and, when appropriate, the force transmitted through the glove protective pad.
The impact wear test deals with events that occur when the rider falls off the motorcycle and slips along the road surface. This standard also includes a restraint test to evaluate the possibility of glove disposal or projection in the event of an accident. The application of this standard is considered by many to be very difficult in terms of meeting seam strength.
The tests are based on the integrity of the entire glove, including measurement of the strength of seams or joints between parts of the material forming the protective layer. This is very important because any failure in these joints could result in glove rupture, exposing the rider's hand to abrasion injuries.
The standard also includes tests that the materials used to manufacture the glove are harmless. These include the pH value of any leather material, the chromium VI content as well as the color fastness of all glove materials to water. The use of hard inclusions such as metal studs or buckles has also been limited. These are only allowed outside of the protective layer of the glove.
