UNECE 22.05 regulation is a legal regulation regarding the approval of protective helmets. It was prepared by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and sets rules to ensure that motorcycle helmets adequately protect the head in an accident and contain explanatory information. Motorcycle helmets must pass these tests. This regulation also covers the performance of visors, chin straps and chin guards.

Thanks to this legal regulation, users are sure that the helmets provide a minimum level of protection. This regulation tells manufacturers what they must do to produce effective helmets and how to prove that they comply with the regulations. In this way, buyers and users have confidence that they are purchasing a helmet that offers protection.
Under this regulation, helmets are tested under several conditions and in several methods. These tests include impact, stiffness, friction, chin strap strength and grip tests. In addition, while these tests are carried out, they are also subjected to a number of environmental conditions to make sure they continue to protect them everywhere. This includes exposing helmets to solvents, low and high temperatures, ultraviolet rays and moisture. These tests are performed using the helmet size determined to be the weakest.
In the chin strap tests, it is determined that the belts do not loosen, stretch or break under load. The visor is then tested for scratch and abrasion resistance, refraction, light transmission and field of view. On the helmet itself, side, front, rear, crown Impact resistance is tested at various points on the helmet, including the chin guard and the chin guard. In short, it is not possible to pass the UNECE test easily.
