These changes require more rigorous testing of the wheels and wheel brake assemblies to verify the load ratings of the wheels and the kinetic energy capacity rating of the brakes.

Aircraft wheels are an essential component of a landing gear system. These wheels, with the tires mounted on them, carry the entire weight of the aircraft during taxi, takeoff and landing. Because aircraft tires are developed for their intended use, they are made harder to better absorb the landing forces without bursting or separating from the rim.
Some common brake system components for large aircraft include: electric brake metering valves, slave brake metering valves, isolating valves, selector valves, anti-rotation actuators, anti-slip valves, hydraulic fuses, shuttle valves, accumulators, rotary joints, and pressure transducers.
