This specification covers conductive electrical wires made as specified in the specification sheet for tin-plated, silver-plated or nickel-plated copper or copper alloy conductors insulated with cross-linked polyalkene, cross-linked alkane-imide polymer, or polyarylene. Crosslinked polyalkene, crosslinked alkane-imide polymer or polyarylene can be used alone or in combination with other insulating materials as specified in the specification sheet.
The requirements for individual wires covered by this specification will be as set out here in the applicable specification sheet. In the event of any conflict between the requirements of this specification and the requirements of the specification sheet, the requirements of the specification sheet shall prevail, except in the following cases:
Conductors of finished wires containing tin-plated copper wires, silver-plated copper wires or silver-plated high-strength copper alloy wires should be tested for solderability. The acceptable solder coverage requirement of the stranded conductor shall be as defined in MIL-STD-202. The test is not applicable to nickel-plated copper wires or nickel-plated high-strength alloy wires and finished wires.
