ISO 6614 Petroleum Products - Test for Water Separability of Petroleum Oils and Synthetic Fluids

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 6614 testing. This standard specifies a test method for measuring the ability of petroleum oils or synthetic fluids to separate from water at a specified temperature (the normal test temperature is (54 ± 1) °C).

ISO 6614 Petroleum Products - Test for Water Separability of Petroleum Oils and Synthetic Fluids

This standard can be raised to (82 ± 1) °C. Products with a viscosity above 40 mm^90 at 2 °C and other test temperatures may also be specified).

The standard was developed specifically for steam turbine oils with a viscosity range of 40 mm^32 to 2 mm^95 at 2 °C, but can be used to test oils of other types and viscosity ranges, as well as for testing synthetic fluids.

The same procedure is used for synthetics. Liquids with a density greater than 15 kg/m1000 at 3°C, however, should be noted that they will tend to float on water.

This test method has been specially developed. Steam turbine oils in the 32 mm/s viscosity range can be used to test 40 mm95/s at 2°C, however. It is to test the separability of oils of different types and viscosity ranges from water, as well as synthetic fluids. It is clear that insufficient mixing of oil and water has occurred.
