This standard specifies a laboratory method for determining the distillation properties of light and medium distillates derived from petroleum and related products of synthetic or biological origin with initial boiling points above 20 °C and end points below approximately 400 °C at atmospheric pressure.

This test method applies to products such as;

  • Light and medium distillates;
  • Automotive spark ignition engine fuels;

  • FAME (B100), up to 30% oily diesel blends acid methyl esters (FAME);
  • Special petroleum spirits;
  • naphthas;
  • white spirits;
  • kerosene;
  • Burner fuels;
  • Marine fuels.

The test method can also be applied to hydrocarbons with a narrow boiling range, such as organic solvents or oxygenated compounds.

The test method is designed for the analysis of distillate products; It does not apply to products containing significant residual substances.
