EN ISO 4263-2 Standard Test Method for Determining the Aging Behavior of Petroleum and Related Products, Inhibited Oils and Fluids

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN ISO 4263-2 test standard. Specifies a method for determining the aging behavior of hydraulic fluids belonging to the HFC category as defined in EN ISO 4263-2, ISO 6743-4 and specified in ISO 12922.

Aging is accelerated by the presence of oxygen, water and metal catalysts. High temperature and degradation of the liquid are followed by changes in pH and insoluble content. Other parts of EN ISO 4263 specify similar procedures for determining the aging behavior of mineral oils and certain categories of fire resistant fluids used in hydraulic and other applications.

A test portion is reacted with oxygen and a steel and copper catalyst coil at 95 °C in the absence of light. Small aliquots of the liquid are drawn at regular intervals and the pH and insoluble content are measured. The test is continued until a pH of 4,0 is reached, an insoluble matter content of 4,0% (m/m) is exceeded, or a period of 200 hours has elapsed.
