ISO 15597 Petroleum and Related Products - Determination of Chlorine and Bromine Content - Wavelength Distribution X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry Test

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of ISO 15597 testing. This International standard specifies a method for the determination of the chlorine and bromine content of liquids. Petroleum products, synthetic oils and additives for liquids and petroleum products (including used oils) are soluble in organic solvents with negligible or precisely known chlorine/bromine content.

The test portion and a bismuth solution as internal standard are mixed in a given mass ratio and exposed to the primary radiation of an X-ray tube in a sample cell.

Use certified reference materials or primary standards prepared from chlorine compounds or white oil-soluble bromine compounds as the basis for the preparation of the appropriate range of stock solutions.

Keep the total duration of the radiation as short as possible by measuring the X-ray fluorescent radiation for each solution for chlorine or bromine followed by bismuth. Do not exceed a measurement time of 100 s for chlorine or bromine radiation or 40 s if using a window tip tube.
