Mechanical Shock Test

The ability of a product to withstand mechanical impacts is both a key design and an important selling point for certain military and consumer goods. Therefore, a dynamic mechanical analysis is an essential component of quality control and product testing.

Mechanical Shock Test

At EUROLAB, we have extensive experience in all types of mechanical shock testing and can quickly and accurately rotate projects with a wide range of requirements. Using precision tools such as strain gauges, load cells, piezo sensors, we can measure the effect of sudden acceleration or deceleration. We can also help you meet relevant legal and international standards, including ASTM D3332, ISO 2247, MIL-STD-167 and more.

Mechanical shocks are generally limited to a frequency range of up to 10.000 Hz and a duration of not more than 1.0 seconds. Such tests emphasize materials, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electronic parts, to assess the physical integrity, continuity and functionality of the material.

EUROLAB has wide capabilities in tailoring mechanically induced shock to your particular situation (eg steel to steel, steel to lead, moderately low g, long-term high speed and sine wave form, jerk and roll, classic shock, drop towers to 20.000 g ( 196.000 m / s2) and a unique hammer device that produces shock from metal to metal on 3 axes simultaneously).

Our Mechanical Shock Test Services

EUROLAB offers several different mechanical shock testing services, including:

  • Simulated pyro shock test - Pyro shock test is important for devices installed near pyrotechnic events such as satellite and launch vehicle components, sensors, cameras and more. Our Pyro shock test capabilities include the ability to accelerate up to 100.000 g and simulate events with frequencies between 100 and 10.000 Hz.
  • Drop test - Our facilities are equipped with drop towers that can test the ability of components to withstand peak speeds of up to 20.000 g or heights of up to 80 feet.
  • Shock test on board - Products used in naval vessels should be able to withstand a variety of mechanical impacts, including everything from general turbulence to effects from enemy regulations. EUROLAB can provide testing for A or B or A-to-C-class ships, including missiles, radios and other equipment that must comply with MIL-S-901 standards.

Mechanical shock testing is a broad field and programs can be tailored to meet your specific needs. Our engineers are ready to advise you on the best sequence of events to accurately copy the environmental conditions your product will be subjected to.
