TS EN 1146 Respiratory Protective Devices - Self-Sufficient Open Circuit Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus with Escape Cap

The BS EN 1146 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to describe the properties, test methods and marking criteria of individual open-circuit compressed air breathing apparatus that contains a hood for escape. This standard was published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 1146 Respiratory protective devices - Self-contained open circuit compressed air breathing apparatus with escape hood - Rules, experiment, marking.

When selecting respiratory masks by enterprises, the chemical and physical properties of pollutants polluting the air, as well as the toxicity and concentration of the dangerous substance, and the amount of oxygen present must be taken into account. Other factors influencing this choice are the nature and extent of the hazard, the area to be covered, mobility, working requirements and conditions, and the limitations and characteristics of existing respirators.

Respiratory protective devices use filters to remove harmful substances in the air. In general, respirators vary widely according to their usage area and capacity.

Respirators providing air to breathe are designed to supply breathable air from a clean air source other than the surrounding contaminated working air. These devices include independent breathing apparatus units. The time required to enter and exit a contaminated area and the time required to perform a particular task is an important factor in determining the type of respiratory protection needed.

For example, a breathing apparatus that provides breathable air from an air compressor with an air line can provide long-term protection. If the total concentration of atmospheric particles is not high, the particle filter can provide long-term protection without the need to replace the filter.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 1146 standard are also provided.
