Connection of TS EN 13014 Gas Sampling Pipes to Anesthesia and Respiratory Equipment

The BS EN 13014 standard, which contains explanations about the connection of respiratory protective devices, gas sampling tubes to anesthesia and respiratory equipment, was developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI). This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 13014 Gas samples for anesthetic and respiratory devices, tube connections.

Connection of TS EN 13014 Gas Sampling Pipes to Anesthesia and Respiratory Equipment

This standard covers the necessary explanations regarding the structure, dimensions and marking of devices used for anesthesia and respiratory purposes, the connectors in the gas sampling tubes that transfer gas back to the diaphragm gas screens and the respiratory system or anesthetic gas separation system.

Anesthesia and breathing devices are devices that disperse gases that trigger sleep during surgical procedures or potentially painful procedures. In general, these devices comprise an oxygen source, an oxygen flow meter, a sensitive evaporator that produces steam from a volatile liquid anesthetic, a patient breathing circuit consisting of pipes, connectors and valves, and a cleaning equipment. Pollution from anesthetic gases is dangerous for the health of people in the environment. In this respect, anesthesia and breathing equipment connections of gas pipes are extremely important.

The patient breathing circuit is the connections used to deliver anesthetic gas to the patient. Thanks to these connections, the patient is given oxygen, the patient is anesthetized, the carbon dioxide produced by the patient is withdrawn, and if necessary, ventilation is supported or kept under control.

In short, the main function of anesthesia and respiratory equipment is to deliver oxygen and anesthetic gases, to absorb carbon dioxide from the respiratory system and to provide controlled ventilation. Regular maintenance of this equipment is required to ensure proper use.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 13014 standard are also provided.
