Employees are required to use respiratory protective devices correctly when required, to report any defects or damage to this device immediately, if they are affected while using them, to convey it to the employer and return it after use.
Respiratory protective equipment standards have been developed as a means to demonstrate compliance with the essential health and safety requirements of the personal protective equipment directive 89/686 / EEC published in the European Union countries.
One of these standards is the BS EN 132 standard, which describes terms, descriptions and pictograms (symbols) related to respiratory protective devices. This standard contains common phrases and definitions for respiratory protective devices. The aim is to prevent uncertain use of these expressions and to provide a uniform interpretation.
Laboratory and practical performance tests are required to evaluate the suitability of a particular respiratory protective device to the requirements.
