TS EN 13274-2 Respiratory Protective Devices - Test Methods - Part 2: Practical Performance Tests

The BS EN 13274-1 standard was developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the practical performance test method, another of the test methods for respiratory protective devices. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 13274-2 Respiratory protective devices - Test methods - Part 2: Practical performance tests.

TS EN 13274-2 Respiratory Protective Devices - Test Methods - Part 2: Practical Performance Tests

This standard describes practical performance tests for respiratory protective devices other than the diving apparatus. The purpose of such tests is to evaluate the features and functions of the device subjectively, which cannot be detected by the tests described in other standards.

There are two main respiratory protective devices: filtered air cleaners and respirators providing fresh air.

Filtered air cleaners clean the inhaled air from contaminants by filtering dust, metal fumes, mist or vapor particles in the air. Their connections are tight and generally take various forms. The full face mask covers the face from the top of the eyes to the bottom of the chin.

These masks also protect the eyes from exposure to irritating chemicals. The half-face mask covers the face from the nose to the bottom of the chin. The quarter mask covers only the mouth and nose. The mouth mask only sits on the mouth and a nose clip is used to keep the nostrils closed. Such masks are for escape purposes only.

Respirators providing fresh air provide fresh air from the compressed air tank or an air line. However, the air supplied from tanks or compressors must meet certain standards in terms of purity and moisture content. Masks with respiratory intakes that fit tightly to the face can be in the form of a half or full mask.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 13274-2 standard are also provided.
