TS EN 13274-3 Respiratory Protective Devices - Test Methods - Part 3: Determination of Respiratory Resistance

Another test method for respiratory protective devices is the test method of determination of respiratory resistance. To explain this test method, the BS EN 13274-3 standard was developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI). This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TS EN 13274-3 Respiratory protective devices - Test methods - Part 3: Determination of respiratory resistance.

TS EN 13274-3 Respiratory Protective Devices - Test Methods - Part 3: Determination of Respiratory Resistance

The standard in question describes a test method for measuring the respiratory resistance of respiratory protective devices containing respiratory protective devices and respiratory protective devices containing facial parts other than those for diving.

Respiratory resistance is mainly defined by respiratory ventilation per volume. Total respiratory resistance, for example, is an important factor that limits the physical capacity of a diver. In unmanned tests of respirators, only external respiratory resistance is measured.

For breathing resistance, the device should not add any extra resistance to breathing, but instead should assist breathing resistance. When determining the respiratory resistance, important features of the device such as complexity, frequency of failure, maintenance, mobility, entanglement, noise, temperature and humidity should be taken into account.

It is extremely important that the air passing through the lungs of people is clean. This applies not only to the breathing ambient air but also to the air supplied through a breathing apparatus. Respiratory protective devices are required if the air is dirty or there is not enough oxygen in its composition. External air supply is usually provided by compressed air cylinders filled with breathing air or air from external breathing air pipes.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 13274-3 standard are also provided.
