This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 13544-2 Respiratory therapy devices - Part 2: Piping system and fittings.
ISO / DIS 17256 Anesthetic and respiratory equipment - Respiratory therapy tubes and connectors standard has been developed, which regulates the same requirements by the International Organization for Standards (ISO).
The TS EN 13544-2 standard describes the requirements of equipment such as nipples and screw-fastened fittings and pipe systems, including interfaces, used with respiratory devices for the purpose of treating respiratory gases at home, ambulance and hospital.
Respiratory therapy equipment helps patients breathe more effectively. If patients experience mechanical difficulties that make it difficult to get enough oxygen in their lungs and trachea, this should be treated immediately. In cases where respiratory assistance is required, it may be necessary to open the airway to apply oxygen. In this case, a pipe must be inserted into the trachea.
Breathing apparatus regulates the amount of oxygen the patient receives and how often the patient needs to breathe. The pipe system and fittings provide oxygen flow and oxygen concentration. It is necessary to make sure that this equipment works efficiently. Therefore, laboratory tests of the pipe system and fittings used with respiratory therapy devices are important.
Briefly, respirators provide respiratory gas mechanically to patients with respiratory dysfunction. This gas is usually enriched with oxygen and carried to the lungs with a positive pressure produced by the device.
