TS EN 13544-3 Respiratory Therapy Devices - Part 3: Air Distribution Devices

One of the respiratory therapy devices are air distribution devices. The BS EN 13544-3 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the features and testing methods of these devices.

TS EN 13544-3 Respiratory Therapy Devices - Part 3: Air Distribution Devices

This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 13544-3 Respiratory therapy devices - Part 3: Air distribution devices.

ISO / DIS 23372 Respiratory therapy devices - Air distribution devices standard, which regulates the same requirements by the International Standards Organization (ISO), has been developed.

The TS EN 13544-3 standard describes the minimum performance and safety features of the equipment that provides air distribution used to deliver a certain oxygen concentration to patients.

Air distribution equipment, which is located between anesthesia, respiratory and reanimation equipment, mixes oxygen with the air in the air distribution chamber to achieve precise oxygen concentration levels. These devices can be stationary to provide a single oxygen concentration or can be adjusted to provide a range of oxygen concentrations. When distributing air, it uses air injectors and venturi devices (devices that measure the relationship between the velocities and pressures of moving fluids).

Air distribution devices, also known as air entraining masks, are medical devices that provide a known oxygen concentration to patients receiving controlled oxygen therapy. These devices are considered as high flow oxygen therapy devices. Oxygen is one of the most widely used substances in medicine in critical care practice.

The TS EN 13544-3 standard also includes a test method to check the accuracy of the oxygen concentration in the air / oxygen mixture. It also proposes a color coding system for defining the determined oxygen concentration.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 13544-3 standard are also provided.
