TS EN 136 Respiratory Protective Devices - Full Face Masks

The BS EN 136 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the properties, test methods and marking criteria of respiratory protective devices in the full face mask group. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 136 Respiratory protective devices - Full face masks - Features, experiments, marking.

The standard in question describes the minimum features that full-face masks used in respiratory protective devices must bear. This standard does not cover full face masks of diving equipment.

In order to obtain the expected efficiency from respiratory protective devices, it is necessary to know the correct form of protection for each dangerous substance. For example, if the dangerous substance dust and smoke particles taken into the body through the respiratory tract, particle filter is required for protection. If the inhaled hazardous substances are gas and steam, then it is necessary to use gas filter masks.

However, if dust and smoke particles and gas and vapor are present together in the breathing air, the truth is to use combined filters and masks in this case. Finally, if there is a lack of oxygen in the ambient air, then independent respiratory protection is the right choice.

In the selection of a filter device, the nature and density of hazardous substances as well as the field of activity and working area of ​​the enterprise are also effective. Therefore, the choice of filter equipment to be used should be decided according to the protection factor it should have. Pollutants are in different situations in the air: particles in the form of particles or droplets, or gas or vapor.
