TS EN 137 Respiratory Protective Devices - Self-Sufficient Open Circuit Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus

The BS EN 137 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the features, test methods and marking criteria of self-contained and open-circuit compressed air respirators, which fall into the full face mask group.

TS EN 137 Respiratory Protective Devices - Self-Sufficient Open Circuit Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus

This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 137 Respiratory protective devices - Self-sufficient open circuit compressed air breathing apparatus - Features, experiment, marking.

Respiratory protective equipment is a special type of personal protective equipment manufactured to protect workers against the inhalation of hazardous substances in the working environment air. In cases where adequate control of exposure cannot be achieved by other means, in other words, such masks are used as a last resort in the hierarchy of control measures. Employers must first of all eliminate the danger at its source. Respiratory protective equipment should be worn after all other reasonably practicable control measures are taken.

Procedures and appropriate respirators must be in operation to control respiratory hazards, including engineering controls and work practices, designed to limit employee exposure to such hazards. In addition, a detailed training program should be implemented for employees, including respiratory hazards recognition, respiratory protective equipment, and their proper maintenance and use.

There are generally two types of respiratory protective equipment. One of them is a respirator with filtering feature. These are also separated without motor or motor. In these, filters are used to remove air pollutants. The other group of respirators are supplied with an air of respiratory quality from an independent source.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 137 standard are also provided.
