The BS EN 250 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the features, test methods and marking criteria of the self-contained and open-circuit compressed air diving apparatus, which is one of the respiratory equipment.
This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 250 Respiratory equipment - Self-sufficient open circuit compressed air immersion apparatus - Features, experiments, marking.
This standard covers self-contained and open-circuit compressed air underwater breathing apparatus and subassemblies of this device. This standard describes the minimum requirements of the subassemblies of independent open-circuit compressed air underwater breathing apparatus to ensure safe and minimal operation of the breathing apparatus to a depth of up to 50 meters.
The TS EN 250 standard is simply a standard that regulators must meet. Recently, however, some changes have been made to the acceptable performance requirements of respiratory regulators focusing on water temperature and other new requirements.
This standard describes diving equipment requirements to meet demands under depth and high breathing loads. With the tests carried out within the framework of this standard, it is ensured that the equipment will provide breathing facilities at acceptable temperatures and acceptable depths in any case.
Scuba dives are becoming increasingly popular and manufacturers produce smaller regulators that are suitable for warm water but cannot meet the same standards in cold water. Therefore, different standards have to be designed for different types of regulators in the cold water and difficult depth range. The EN 250 standard is a standard that will meet all requirements.
