TS EN 403 Respiratory Protective Devices - For Self Rescue - Filter Devices With Headgear Used When Fleeing Fire

The BS EN 403 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the properties, test methods and marking criteria of respiratory protective filter devices used to save itself from fire. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 403 Respiratory protective devices - For self-recovery - Filter devices with a hood used when escaping from fire - Rules, experiments, marking.

TS EN 403 Respiratory Protective Devices - For Self Rescue - Filter Devices With Headgear Used When Fleeing Fire

The standard in question includes filter respirators with a hood for personal protection from particles, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases occurring in the fire.

Breathing devices falling within the scope of this standard are devices with escape features. In emergency situations, the person uses these devices to save himself. Filtered masks are used to protect from organic and inorganic gases in the environment. Type A filters are used for gases and vapors with organic structures.

These are known as activated carbon filters. Organic gases and vapors that enter the ranges of activated carbon molecules turn into liquid state and accumulate in the filter. However, other types of carbon filters are used for inorganic gases and vapors and ammonia and sulfur dioxide. These are generally known as impregnated carbon filters.

The usage time of the filters differs according to the concentration and characteristic of the pollutant in the environment, the filter capacity, the lung capacity of the person and the breathing volume, the efficacy spent, the humidity in the air, the temperature of the air and the maintenance processes applied to the filter. The shelf life of these filters is five years from the date of manufacture.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 403 standard are also provided.
