The BS EN 405 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the properties, test methods and marking criteria of equipment, which is a respiratory protective device, and which has filter-on half-masks with protective valves against gases and particles. This standard was published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TS EN 405 Respiratory protective devices - Half masks with protective valves against gases or gases and particles - Properties, experiment, marking.
Except for the purpose of escape, this standard includes valve-filled half masks with gas or combined filters as respiratory equipment. The standard in question does not cover gas masks with no valves or gas filters only with exhalation valves. It also does not include equipment designed for situations in which the oxygen concentration in the air drops below 17 percent or when it is likely to fall.
The working environment factors that are effective in choosing the right respiratory protection equipment are:
As a result, there are many different types of masks. Dust masks, half masks, full face masks, fan assisted masks and the like. These use filters to remove particles in the air. In developed laboratories, all of these must be tested within the framework of relevant standards.
Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN 405 standard are also provided.
