The BS EN 14594 standard, which contains recommendations for the selection, use, maintenance and maintenance of respiratory protective devices, has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI). This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TS EN 529 Respiratory protective devices - Recommendations for selection, use, maintenance and preservation - Guidance document.
Running a successful respiratory protection program means predicting dangers. To implement such a program, it is necessary to understand and implement legal regulations and national and international standards related to occupational health and safety.
Business management must first establish a written respiratory protection program when respiratory protection is required. For this, in the first step, exposure to airborne pollutants in the working environment should be evaluated. If there is no trained security officer in the business, it would be correct to make this assessment by an authorized organization with an independent and impartial eye.
The results of the assessment will shed light on the business on: exposure levels and whether they are acceptable or unacceptable, effective ways to control exposure, and which types of respirators will provide correct protection for employees.
The next step is to choose suitable respiratory equipment. In order for this equipment to be used by the employees, the health status of the employees must be evaluated first. Respirators must be examined, cleaned, protected, if necessary, maintained and repaired and properly stored, in standards and periods specified by the manufacturer. In addition, this program should be reviewed at regular intervals to ensure it is working properly.
