BS EN 18082 standard has been developed by International Standards Organization (ISO) to explain the properties and test methods of non-replaceable screw (NIST) low pressure connectors for medical gases within the scope of anesthesia and respiratory equipment.

This standard was published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 18082 Anesthesia and respiratory equipment - Irreversible screw thread (NIST) low pressure connectors for medical gases. This standard replaces the BS EN 15908 standard developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI).
This standard describes the requirements for the sizing, placement and marking of non-replaceable threaded (NIST) connectors designed to be used for vacuum systems with pressures up to 1400 kilo Pascal and pressures not greater than 60 kilo Pascal.
Medical gas installations include various components such as oxygen, nitrogen, air for breathing, carbon dioxide and mixtures of gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and helium in certain proportions.
Pressure-binding equipment are fittings that are attached to the gas outlets from the medical gas line, usually made of steel, and that transmit oxygen, nitrogen, vacuum and air flow. These parts must show high resistance to corrosion and other factors and must be fully sealed. Tests and quality checks are required to ensure that the equipment in question provides expected performance and reliability.
Medical gases are called medical gases. These gases have a wide range of uses. It is used to operate a device in the units such as pathology, microbiology, respiratory units, pharmacy, operating rooms and analytical instrument laboratories in the hospital for the purpose of treatment or in these units.
