TS EN ISO 5356-2 Anesthetic and Respiratory Equipment - Conical Fasteners - Part 2: Screw-Headed Weight Bearing Fasteners

The BS EN 5356-2 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the properties and test methods of screw-headed weight-bearing fasteners with conical fasteners within the scope of anesthetic and respiratory equipment.

TS EN ISO 5356-2 Anesthetic and Respiratory Equipment - Conical Fasteners - Part 2: Screw-Headed Weight Bearing Fasteners

This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 5356-2 Anesthetic and respiratory equipment - Conical fittings - Part 2: Screw-headed weight bearing fasteners. This standard was later published by the International Standards Organization (ISO).

This international standard describes the dimensional properties and requirements of load-bearing screw thread connectors intended for use with inhalation anesthesia apparatus and ventilators. These types of connectors are designed for mounting heavy accessories. Conical fittings with screw threads and weight that fall within the scope of the standard are: 22 mm connectors and 22/15 mm coaxial connectors.

Cones and sockets mentioned in the first part of this standard are sufficient for light breathing inserts. However, more important connectors are needed to support heavy or fragile components. The second part of the stadium covers them.

Factors regulating the design of these connectors include robustness, simplicity, ease of sterilization, and ease of manual assembly and separation. It must also be compatible with connectors that meet the requirements described in the ISO 5356-1 standard. Screw-threaded connectors falling within the scope of ISO 5356-2 standard are suitable for connections in the respiratory system and in the common gas outlet. In short, the main function of the anesthesia device is to deliver oxygen to a patient.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN ISO 5356-2 standard are also provided.
