TS EN ISO 5359 Anesthesia and Respiratory Equipment - Low Pressure Hose Fittings For Use With Medical Gases

The BS EN 5359 standard has been developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI) to explain the properties, test methods and marking criteria of low pressure hose fittings produced for use with medical gases located between anesthesia and respiratory equipment.

This standard was published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 5359 Anesthesia and respiratory equipment - Low pressure hose fittings for use with medical gases.

The standard, also published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the requirements for low pressure hose fittings designed for use with certain medical gases.

This standard provides a safe method for connecting medical equipment to a fixed medical gas pipeline system or another medical gas supply system with different gas-carrying hose assemblies.

Once fixed medical gas pipelines are installed, they are subjected to tests to prevent the possibility of cross-linking or contamination of the medical gas transported. However, hose fittings are subject to physical wear and tear, misuse and abuse throughout their lifetime.

This international standard contains requirements to prevent predictable dangers from the use of hose assemblies. Regular maintenance and repairs should be made to ensure that hose assemblies continue to meet the requirements of this standard.

The TS EN ISO 5359 standard specifies the requirements for low pressure hose assemblies intended primarily for use in medical gases: oxygen, nitrogen oxide, inhaled air, helium, carbon dioxide, xenon and certain mixtures of these counted gases.

Within the scope of breathing apparatus compatibility tests carried out by our organization EUROLAB, testing services in accordance with TS EN ISO 5359 standard are also provided.
