Over time, the level and complexity of these certification efforts have increased, and almost every country has introduced legal regulations to control the safety and environmental impact of vehicles, systems and components.
There are two types of approval systems in practice in the European Union countries. One of them is the approval of complete vehicles, systems and components brought by European Union directives.
