But most importantly, ASME is one of the oldest organizations developing standards. It has developed many standards covering many technical fields such as sanitary equipment, fittings, pipelines, power plant systems, elevators and their components.
Many of these standards are used by government agencies as a tool to achieve their regulatory goals. The use of ASME standards is therefore optional, unless it is legally binding or included in legal regulations. Today, ASME standards are used in more than XNUMX countries.
Type approval certification is carried out by accredited organizations for a product that meets technical and safety requirements. In general, it is necessary to obtain type approval within the framework of the relevant legal regulations, without allowing a product to be sold in a particular country. In this case, the requirements for a particular product differ from country to country.
Compliance with type approval requirements, the suitability of a product undergoing testing and control processes is evidenced by a type approval certificate prepared by a third party authorized organization. At this point, the CE mark on many electrical and electronic devices does not mean that this product has received type approval. This sign indicates that the manufacturer meets the minimum safety requirements of the relevant legal regulations applicable to it.
Type approval is not a concept limited to a particular industry. There are type approval requirements for a number of products such as the automotive industry, medical equipment, mobile phones, and marine equipment. Within this framework, type approval certification is required for a product to determine that it meets certain requirements contained in ASME standards.
