EN 334 Gas Pressure Regulators Test for Up to 10 MPa Inlet Pressure

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 334 testing. This standard specifies the structural, functional, testing, marking, sizing and documentation requirements for gas pressure regulators.

EN 334 Gas Pressure Regulators Test for Up to 10 MPa Inlet Pressure

This standard specifies the following:

  • For inlet pressures up to 100 bar and nominal diameters up to DN 400;
  • Working with 437st and 2003nd family fuel gases defined in EN 1:2009+A1:2,
  • For the operating temperature range from 20 °C to +60 °C, it is used in pressure regulating stations according to EN.

12186 or EN 12279 in transmission and distribution networks as well as in commercial and industrial installations.
"Gas pressure regulators" will hereinafter be referred to as "regulators", apart from the titles.

For standard regulators when used in pressure regulating stations conforming to EN 12186 or EN 12279, Annex ZA lists all applicable essential safety requirements of European legislation on pressure equipment, excluding external and internal corrosion resistance for applications in corrosive environments.

This document considers the following temperature classes/regulator types:

  • Temperature class 1: operating temperature range from −10 °C to 60 °C;
  • Temperature class 2: operating temperature range from -20 °C to 60 °C;
  • IS type: (holistic strength type);
  • DS type: (differential strength type).

This document applies to regulators that use pipeline gas as their control energy source without assistance from any external power source.

The regulator may include a second regulator used as a monitor that complies with the requirements in this document.

This document describes both pressure regulators (monitors) that can be classified as “safety accessories” according to European pressure equipment legislation, and regulators that can be used to provide the necessary pressure protection through redundancy (e.g. safety shut-off device, pressure regulator + in-line monitor, pressure regulator + safety shut-off device). ) are taken into account.

The provisions in this document are in line with the state of the art at the time of writing.
